Dear Comrade,
Thank you for the warm letter Comrade Xi Zhong Xun gave me on your behalf.
The visit France by the delegation from the Chinese Communist Party headed by Comrade Xi Zhong Xun, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of the Central Committee, is a significant political event.
I believe our party’s organisations did their best to welcome it, to fraternally assist it in its activities and to allow it to get to know the realities of our country better.
The whole of our party was pleased with its visit. The interviews it has had with our Party’s delegation, headed by Comrade Maxime Gremetz, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of the Central Committee, as well as with myself, have enabled a broad and fruitful exchange of viewpoints.
Like you, the leadership of our Party and myself have positively assessed the brotherly cooperation that has formed since the visit to your country of the delegation that I had the honour of heading. The implementation of important decisions that we took together on that highly significant occasion is happening under good conditions, on the basis of stronger mutual understanding and shared exchange of experiences. This contributes to strengthen the bonds of friendship and solidarity between Chinese communists and French communists, and I welcome that.
The significant delegation headed by Comrade Xi Zhong Xun that we have just welcomed, the cooperation plan that we have signed for the year 1984 are a new milestone in that direction.
Dear Comrade, I thank you very much for the invitation you made to me to visit China with my family for the holiday. I gladly accept it, and I will respond to it with great pleasure as soon as the circumstances will allow me to.
In the hope that one day you will be able to visit France at our invitation, I extend, my dear Comrade, my brotherly greetings and my best wishes of success in your endeavour.
