Record of a Conversation between L. I. Brezhnev and Ali Sabri, member of the High Executive Committee of the Arab Socialist Union

Ali Sabri uses the increased pressure that the United States and Israel place on Arab nations to ask Brezhnev for increased military support to Egypt. Brezhnev responds by speaking about the importance that politics plays in negotiations with Israel. He also expresses gratitude for Egypt's diplomatic recognition of the GDR.

Nasser tells Brezhnev of the difficulties faced in his attempts to unify Arab nations against Israeli threats. Though Nasser expresses his desire for a peaceful settlement with Israel, he makes clear that he will not yield any of Egypt's territory nor negotiate directly with the Israeli government. The two leaders develop a list of provisions to be a basis of a potential settlement that could end the conflict with Israel.

Riad tells Brezhnev about Egypt's attempts to use Arab unity to end recent conflicts with Israel. Riad emphasizes Egypt's aim to stay away from concessions to the Israeli government and stresses the United States's pro-Israel stance.

Brezhnev tells Gandhi about the Soviet Union's concern with recent American actions in the Middle East and shares his fear of increased nuclear capacity. Gandhi seconds these worries, celebrates the friendship between India and the Soviet Union, and requests Soviet assistance in developing India's economy.

In a meeting initiated by Saddam Hussein with Leonid Brezhnev, Alexei Kosygin, Andrei Gromyko, and Boris Ponomarev, the Iraqi leader discussed relations with the Soviet state, United States involvement in the Middle East, border conflict, and the development of the Iraqi economy.

Report on the Results of the Visit to the USSR by the Palestine Liberation Organization Delegation

The meeting between the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) and the Soviet Union addresses the United States imposition of imperialistic policy in the Middle East. PLO head Yasser Arafat believes that the United States, Israeli, and Western European agreements at Camp David will negatively impact Palestinians and other Arab states and must be overturned. The Soviet Union responds by restating the need for unity in the Middle East.

Notes on a meeting in Moscow from March 6-10 between Yasser Arafat & the PLO Delegation and the Soviet government. Arafat was met by Brezhnev, Boris Ponomarev and Andrei Gromyko. Among the issues discussed were the situation in the Middle East, the Soviets desire for Palestine to counter Egypt's "capitulation" to Israel and the U.S. (which Arafat affirmed), tensions in Southern Lebanon and the PLO's increasing desire to further cooperation with Syria and non-Christian Lebanese groups.
