Cable No. 1827 from Ambassador Yamada Chusei (Egypt) to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, 'Japan-Egypt Summit (First Meeting: Japan-Egypt Relations)'

This telegram is a summary of the plenary session during the summit between Japanese PM Kaifu and his Egyptian counterparts. During the conversation the two sides discussed the economic impact of Iraq's invasion of Kuwait on Egypt and Kaifu's decision to send $2billion in aid to Egypt, Turkey, and Jordan.

Cable No. 1828 from Ambassador Yamada Chusei (Egypt) to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, 'Japan-Egypt Summit Meeting (First Meeting: The Situation in the Gulf)'

The small group session at the beginning of the meeting was suddenly, on instructions from President Hosni Mubarak, turned into a tete-a-tete meeting (only the other side’s Prime Minister Atef Sedky joined him), with the situation in the Gulf the only issue raised. The document is a summary of its main points. (Present from the other side was Prime Minister Sedky. Interpreter: Tsuruoka Koji).

Report about the Closing of the Trade and Payments Agreement with Egypt

The report outlines the negotiations and discusses the importance of GDR support for the Arab countries, foremost Egypt. Having as its example the GDR-Finland trade agreement, the GDR-Egyptian trade agreement would be based on the exchange of goods in the amount of $13.5 million, which, for the Egyptian side, would consist mainly of cotton export. A credit was negotiated at 500,000 Egyptian Pounds. The report also mentions the satisfaction of the Egyptian government with the GDR for not having signed a reconciliation treaty with Israel. Also, a trade mission of the GDR’s foreign commerce office was discussed and approved by the Egyptian side.

Memorandum of the Second Official Conversation between Walter Ulbricht, Chairman of the State Council of the GDR, and Gamal Abdel Nasser, President of the United Arab Republic, on 28 February 1965, 18:00-19:40

The conversation is about the joint statement on issues of economic and cultural cooperation that will be signed by Ulbricht and Nasser. They talk about the opening of an Egyptian consulate general in Berlin and consider questions of agriculture.
