Journal Entry of Ambassador Volkov: A Conversation with Subandrio

A journal entry from B.M. Volkov, the Soviet Ambassador to Indonesia, about a meeting with Subandrio, the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, on October 22, 1958. Over the course of about an hour, they discussed several issues of Indonesian internal and foreign affairs, including concerns about unrest in Thailand and interference from the West, tension with Australia over possession of West Irian (Indonesian New Guinea), Sukarno's upcoming visit to Latin America and Subandrio's upcoming visit to the Soviet Union.

Stalin, writing under the pseudonym “Fyodor Kuznetsov,” who was Stalin’s Chief of the GRU, tells “Terebin,” actually Soviet doctor and operative in Yan’an Andrei Orlov, to arrange a secret meeting in Moscow with Mao Zedong.

Spychalski conveys the Ministry of National Defense's proposed supplement to the Treaty on the Status of Soviet Forces Stationed in Poland. The supplement addresses the movement of Soviet units by air and sea.

Letter to the Allied Control Commission from General S. Pretorian for the President of the Romanian Armistice Commission

General S. Pretorian requests increased staffing for all the District Centers of Territorial Exploitation in Romania. He lists the responsibilities and resources required to supply both Romanian and Soviet armies and states that the current levels of staffing are insufficient.
