A Meeting of Saddam Hussein with Delegation of the Jordanian Arab Democratic Youth

This file includes Saddam's discussions with the Jordanian Arab Democratic Youth in which he states that if Israel attacked iraq with an atomic bomb, Iraq would respond with chemical weapons. He also states his desire to schedule a meeting with the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the UAE in which they would discuss the decrease of petroleum prices.

Meeting between Saddam Hussein and Council of Ministers

Saddam, Tariq Aziz, and other officials discuss the state of Arab diplomacy and the sanctions regime against Iraq. They consider prospects for lifting the sanctions in conjunction with the visit of Ekeus. They also discuss religious issues and the role of Islam in various Middle Eastern countries.

Saddam presides over the Council of Ministers meeting regarding Jordanian and US relations

This undated file is a transcript from a meeting between Saddam Hussein and the Cabinet Ministers. In the beginning of the meeting they discussed some financial and economical issues such as various loans. Second, Saddam headed the Minsiters Council where they discussed the visit of the Yugoslavian vice president to Iraq, and the Nonalignment Nations conference that will be held in Iraq. Finally, they discuss the connections between Hussein King of Jordan and the United States.

Transcript of a Meeting between Saddam Hussein and the General Command of the Armed Forces talking about Islamic History and the Situation around al‐Huwayzah

This file contains Pages 102‐112 and 130‐140 of the original 140 page document. The written information considered conversations between Saddam and the High leaders of the Army, talking, suggesting, discussing and  revising the histories of early Islamic battles and their heroes, warriors and commanders. They also discuss the situation around al‐Huwayzah, as well as other various battle‐related issues. There is a military cooperative situation between Iraq and Jordan, with vague references to a possible transfer of funds or arms transfer, that is also mentioned. The purchase of foreign currency, specifically French francs, is also briefly discussed.

Cable No. 1828 from Ambassador Yamada Chusei (Egypt) to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, 'Japan-Egypt Summit Meeting (First Meeting: The Situation in the Gulf)'

The small group session at the beginning of the meeting was suddenly, on instructions from President Hosni Mubarak, turned into a tete-a-tete meeting (only the other side’s Prime Minister Atef Sedky joined him), with the situation in the Gulf the only issue raised. The document is a summary of its main points. (Present from the other side was Prime Minister Sedky. Interpreter: Tsuruoka Koji).

Cable No. 1191 from Ambassador Nonoyama Tadayuki (Jordan) to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, 'The Prime Minister’s Visit to the Middle East (Meeting with Prime Minister Badran)'

Summary of Japanese Prime Minister Kaifu's meeting with Jordanian Prime Minister Badran. Badran thanks Kaifu for Japan's economic commitment to the region to help alleviate the impact of Iraq's invasion of Kuwait and subsequent sanctions enacted by the UN, hoping "the portion allocated to Jordan will be commensurate with the economic losses that Jordan will suffer."

Summary of Japanese Prime Minister Kaifu's meeting with Jordanian Crown Prince Hassan following Iraq's invasion of Kuwait. During the discussion, the Crown Prince expresses the economic and political difficulties Jordan has faced following the invasion and enactment of sanctions against Iraq. In addition to asking for Japanese economic investment, he provides a description of Saddam Hussein's mindset.
