June 16, 1967	Note from the Conversation between Comrade Zenon Kliszko and CC CCP Secretary Liu Ningyi Comrade Kliszko presents Liu Ningyi with a letter from six socialist countries calling for a conference to discuss aid and coordination in Vietnam in response to "American imperialism." He urges China to rally against this common enemy, despite the ideological differences dividing the socialist nations. Liu responds harshly both to the proposal and to Comrade Kliszko's statement, arguing China "did not want anything to do with a revisionist clique of the Soviet Union’s leadership and its lackeys."

August 12, 1965	Chinese Foreign Ministry Circular, "Malraux’s visit to China" The Chinese Foreign Ministry reports on a visit by the French Minister of State Andre Malraux to China. Malraux came in part to act as a peace broker for the United States and proposed a plan to Zhou Enlai to divide Vietnam. Zhou rejected the proposal.
August 3, 1965	Chinese Foreign Ministry Circular, 'Talks Between the Ghanaian Mission and the DRV' The Chinese Foreign Ministry reports on a visit by the President of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah, to North Vietnam as part of a British commonwealth initiative to mediate peace talks between the US and the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. The DRV rejected the Ghana overture on the grounds that it was "designed in reality to bypass the Geneva Accords to get the United States and the DRV into direct talks while countries like Ghana help the United States by pressuring the DRV." The circular then gives instructions to the Chinese embassies on how to deal with questions about the mission.

September 7, 1969	Summary of Zhou Enlai’s Talk with Ion Gheorghe Maurer, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Romania, in Beijing Excerpt from a talk with Ion Gheorghe Maurer in which Zhou Enlai discusses the Soviet Union’s role in Vietnamese negotiations. Maurer was leading a Romanian Party and government delegation to attend Ho Chi Minh's funeral in Hanoi. He made a stopover in Beijing on September 7, 1969.
May 7, 1968	Zhou Enlai’s talk with Xuan Thuy, Director of the International Liaison Department of the Vietnam Workers Party, in Beijing Zhou Enlai advises Xuan Thuy concerning the negotiations with the US, Enlai draws some parallels between Korea and Vietnam
December 2, 1961	Telegram from Behar Shtylla to Ung Van Khiem This document is a telegram from Albanian Foreign Affairs Minister Behar Shtylla to the Foreign Affairs Minister of North Vietnam, Ung Van Khiem. Shtylla shares the same indignation as the Vietnamese minister towards the dangerous situation arising in Vietnam. According to Shtylla, Kennedy is trying to transform South Vietnam into a base of operations for aggression directed against the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. Taking into account other actions towards Laos and Cambodia, he believes Kennedy is attempting to convert Indochina into an American base. Shtylla states that the American policy in Vietnam violates the general international conventions of conduct, as well as the Vietnamese people’s sovereignty. Shtylla expresses full solidarity with the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and supports its request that the chairmen of the Geneva Conference take measures against the American inference in South Vietnam.

The document illuminates the views and attitudes of Vietnam's top leader in the crisis year 1979, and also some aspects of the situation within the socialist camp at that particular juncture.
