PROTOCOL

On the relations between
the Democratic Party of Poland
and the Democratic League of China 
in the years 1988-1990

 

 

By the invitation from the chairman of the CC of the Democratic League of China, Fei Xiaotong, the delegation of the Democratic Party of Poland led by the vice-chairman of the CC of the Democratic Party, vice-chairman of Sejm of the Polish People’s Republic Marek Wieczorek paid a friendly visit to China on 19-26 April 1988.

 

The Polish guests met in Beijing with the vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Xi Zhongxun, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau, secretary of the CC of the CPC, Hu Qili and secretary of the CC of the CPC, Yang Mingfu and with the chairman of the CC of the Democratic League of China, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the NPC, Fei Xiaotong. They visited Canton and the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone where they were greeted by representatives of the leadership of the Provincial Committee of the CDL for Guangdong and the Preparatory Committee of the CDL for the city of Shenzhen with which they had cordial talks.

 

The Democratic League of China and the delegation of the Democratic Party attended meetings in Beijing during which both sides expressed their satisfaction with the friendly visit of the delegation of the Democratic Party.

 

Vice-chairman of the CC of the CDL, Qian Weichang and the vice-chairman of the CC of the PDP, Marek Wieczorek informed each other about the entirety of the situation in the CDL and the PDP. Both sides were satisfied with the friendly visits and relations initiated in 1986.

 

Both sides expressed eagerness to create the environment for intensification of the friendly exchange and relations between CDL and PDP.

 

Both sides agreed to perform the following actions in 1988-1990:

 

1. The Democratic Party invites a high profile delegation of the Democratic League of China to the XIV Congress of the Democratic Party (April 1989); CDL accepted the invitation with content.

 

2. The editorial board of the “Voice of the Masses” published by the CDL and the editorial board of the “Democratic Weekly” published by the DP will in due time organize an exchange of their journalists and will include in their publications information about the other side.

 

3. The Democratic Party wishes that the CDL supports the Poznań International Fair for Small-scale Production organized by the DP; CC of the CDL expressed eagerness to facilitate the participation of the small- and medium-sized Chinese enterprises. Detailed arrangements will be agreed upon by the Foreign Department of the CC of the DP and the Committee for Relations of the CDL.

 

4. The Democratic League of China intends to invite in 1990 a delegation from the DP to pay a visit in China in order to discuss and exchange experiences about the role of small towns in the reform, opening and the economic development of the country.

5. The Democratic Party and the Democratic League of China will regularly exchange their publications.

 

6. The Democratic Party and the Democratic League of China believe that the intelligentsia plays an important role in the fields of reform, opening to the world, and the economic development of the state.

 

Both sides express the will to create an environment for exchange of delegations of specialists and experts in science and technology, education, culture, health care, ecology, etc.
