Press reactions to the visit of the PDP delegation led by vice-chairman Marek Wieczorek in PRC

1. RENMIN RIBAO [People’s Daily], on 21 April 1988, put a note in the visits column prepared by the Xinhua Agency about the meeting between the vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, chairman of the Central Committee of the China Democratic League Fei Xiaotong and the visiting delegation of the Polish Democratic Party led by Marek Wieczorek. Tsien Usiczang [sic; a  Polish phonetic interpretation of a Chinese name], vice-chairman of the Political Consultative Conference and the League participated in the meeting as well. Afterwards, vice-chairman Fei Xiaotong invited the delegation to a banquet.

Polish guests will go to Canton and Shenzhen for sightseeing.

2. RENMIN ZHENGXIE BAO (The Political Consultative Conference Magazine, issued on Tuesdays and Fridays), on 22 April 1988 published an information under the following title on the first page:

“Delegation of the Polish Democratic Party pays visit to China by invitation of the Central Committee of the China Democratic League.” (on 20 April)

The magazine’s correspondence highlights a part of the host’s banquet toast where he says that the DP is CDL’s first partner among the foreign political parties and that such great start gives reasons to believe that “future work will be well done”. It informs that the Polish guests are highly interested in the phenomenon of shared investments, private enterprises, the development of the Shenzhen special economic zone and the broadest possible cooperation of the Polish and Chinese intelligentsia associated in CDL and PDP. They report that Marek Wieczorek, leader of the Polish delegation, invited the chairman of the CC of the CDL Fei Xiaotong on behalf of the chairman of the CC of the PDP Młyńczak to visit the Democratic Party’s Congress next year. Fei expressed his gratitude for the invitation.

Polish ambassador in China, Dembowski, and members of the delegation J. Gruchalski, J. Janowski and P. Frankowski also participated in the meeting.

The magazine adds that on 21 April the delegation leaves for Canton and Shenzhen.

A brief summary on Renmin Ribao (People's Daily) and Renmin Zhengxie Bao (The Political Consultative Conference Magazine)'s coverage of the PDP visit.
